Quoted from what?
Him directly.
AD read that on his podcast having written it after the Arsenal Chelsea match.
He did walk it back by saying afterwards, 'but we've just beaten Spurs so I feel better now'.

You must be old, prior to Abromo i think they had only won the title once and was that not back in the late 50's.

I grew up in the late 60's early 70's and Chelsea were the ManU of the time; every kid on the block supported them. I don't know how successful they actually were at the time as I didn't care about football then. Alan Davies is of course an Arsenal fan, a team who have set the world alight over the Wenger years.....

He used to be a Palarse supporter. He also did a 'don't you know who I am?'. Horrible man.

Really, well they did not win much then in those years.

This is the point I am making - Chelsea are the club with the history, Alan Davies is talking shite. He has forgotten to leave his left-wing student politics behind him as he has progressed up the food chain.

I agree with Davies. My one criticism of his rant is that he omitted to mention the sexism of the club in their treatment of Eva Carveiro.

Chelsea are the club with history ? Do you mean in comparison with Arsenal. They were hated when I was young in the late 60s' and early 70s' even so much that I can remember everyone wanting Leeds to beat them amongst our mates in 71. Not sayin they didn't have great players but were never in Arsenals league for success or support. Their supporters where scumbags of the highest order as well.
They are more successful now but no one outside of their own fans respect them and that prat of a manager of theirs. He is disgusting.

He is bang on the money about Abramovic though, although it i always brushed under the carpet in exchange for the glamour of Chelsea. The shining lights down at the bridge are tinged with blood.

You must have lived in Wandsworth or Balham because everywhere else they were the 4th most popular London club after Spurs West Ham & Arsenal in whatever order during that time.

Chelsea have always been a well supported team bar a disastrous period in the 80's and they've certainly been worthy of being refered to as one the top club in England for the last 20 years.

Why Wandsworth or Balham out of interest, just two random places with sw postcodes?

Blimey. Chelsea, racism, "big clubs" and the mention of specific London boroughs. Does anyone feel a certain poster is missing from this thread?
