Our first year scholar Jayson Molumby is in the Republic of Ireland U-17 squad for the 2016 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying round matches which start tomorrow. Ireland are in a group with Finland, Sweden and Malta, and the matches all take place in Finland - Ireland U17s commence campaign with Finland test

Unfortunately fellow first year scholar Rian O'Sullivan misses out through injury.

The fixtures are:-

Sep 24: Finland v ROI
Sep 26: Malta v ROI
Sep 29: ROI v Sweden

The top two in the group automatically qualify for the Elite Round (plus potentially the third-placed team, but it gets complicated).

That's not him is it? It's Daniel Radiou (sp) who is Romanian / Irish who is waiting for clearance, no?

We have six scholars who will need international clearance. It has come through for Thomas Byrne (who has scored two goals in 3 matches for the U-18s) and Luis Garcia (who made his debut as a half-time sub on Saturday).

Daniel Mandroiu, Sam Golan, Rian O'Sullivan and Jayson Molumby have yet to appear for the U-18s; in the match report from Saturday the U-18's coach Ian Buckman stated that international clearance was still awaited on three players, so it is possible that it has now come through for either Rian O'Sullivan (who is currently out with a hamstring injury) or Molumby (who is, of course, away on international duty currently).

Two years ago the clearance for Des Hutchinson came through on September 19 and for Ragnar Mar Larusson on October 4, so it isn't particularly late yet.

Well, if [MENTION=6886]Bozza[/MENTION] pulled his finger out, you'd be able to read my profile of him (along with all the other scholars) which was written weeks ago.

He is primarily a midfielder, but can play in a variety of positions.

FA of Ireland report - Ireland's U17s begin UEFA qualifiers with Finnish win
