No, not now.

Wouldn't mind life before mobile phones though.

Think there should be Internet free areas such as restaurants. Can't stand seeing kids at the table on I pads etc rather than socialising properly and talking!

That is an excellent idea. Unfortunately the horse has bolted - free wifi is now a selling point that entices more people in.

As for the original question...as some have intimated, the vast majority of humankind has existed without the internet. There would be no problem if it had never existed. But it does, and I like it.

Watched This is England 90 and characters arguing about who was going to answer the phone- as in the landline. Quite refreshing.

It is invaluable for work, and contacting colleagues instantly around the world (Ms Lync / email / video conferencing) however socially and at home I am aware that I spend an unhealthy amount of time procrastinating, watching pointless videos and reading/replying to pointless threads. Oh!

internet or WWW? you know the difference, right?

either way working in IT, no couldnt do without it. at home, times i wish i could, its a massive distraction or excuse not to get stuff done. but then so are games, TV, even books when one thinks about it.

I was at Shambala a few weeks ago and, it being a festival, I decided not to take my smartphone. The battery wouldn't last, it might've gotten damaged/nicked etc. Decided to buy myself an old Nokia brick type phone. It had SMS and call capability. Nothing else. Well, Snake but that was it.

I was in that field for four days without internet access and it was bloody marvellous. No flicking around websites for new things to read, no emails, notifications on Twitter etc etc.

Apart from when I'm at work the internet is really just a distraction. Tabbing through open web pages has become the new channel surfing.

There's more knowledge available to people thanks to the internet than ever before and we use it look at cats and laugh, repeatedly, at the video of Reading fans celebrating 7th.

If it just disappeared, yep. Done it before. But could I give it up? No, probably not. I tend to think of it as a positive in my life though. An aware I waste too much time on crap but then I used to waste time watching tv too.

When I used to walk to work in Brighton, I used to listen to the radio on the way in. I can distinctly remember listening to news reports about an "Information Super Highway" that had been invented, that connected computers up around the world, and when it was rolled out it would completely change the world as we knew it.

I thought it was bollocks.

never had a iPhone, smart phone or iPad. I know I'm evil but I'm kind of hoping they/you go blind and/or get run over/or develop a major serious RSI to fingers and thumb.
