There isn't one game at any stage that you can look at as a comfortable one."
Chris Hughton
CHRIS HUGHTON is delighted with Brighton & Hove Albion’s position at the top of the table following a goalless draw at Wolves and hailed the overall quality of the division.
He said, “It's a good start for us and what we've managed to do is get a decent gap for ourselves.
“It was a good situation going into the game knowing that even if we had lost, we still would have been in top position, and that's all you can ask for.
“We're trying to do the best we can in every game; challenge the players as much as we can and hopefully get as many points as possible.
“The division is as strong as it's ever been. Rotherham came to us on Tuesday sitting bottom of the league; and although I thought the scoreline should've been bigger, we only won by one goal and they then go on to beat Cardiff.
“There isn't one game at any stage that you can look at as a comfortable one. We go away to Bolton next weekend after they've had a poor result away from home, but I don't expect that game to be any more comfortable than the Wolves one.
“That's the strength of the league and that's why the best teams finish in the best positions. That's why all you can do is have the same mentality in every game and hopefully that will get us the points we want to get.”

LATEST NEWS FROM*SEAGULLS.CO.UK

KENNY JACKETT praised the effort of his players after a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Brighton and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in particular, after he denied Tomer Hemed from the penalty spot.

He told wolves.co.uk, “We had to work hard for the clean sheet especially when they brought on Bobby Zamora and Elvis Manu and we were wondering how the dynamics of the game were going to change.“Our young centre-half pairing stood very firm and showed a lot of promise.
“They have a good presence as does Dominic Iorfa at right-back and a lot of confidence can be gained from the clean sheet.
*“It was a great double save from Emi. You want your forwards to win you games by scoring goals but equally your goalkeeper can produce key and decisive moments as well.
“That was a key moment today and everyone in the stadium got behind us from there.
“Martinez’s work from crosses was excellent as well and when you have a keeper with that presence in the six-yard box it does diffuse so many attacks rather than the ball bouncing around in the box.
“He looked secure on crosses and did diffuse a lot of attacks with a lot of confidence and some very good judgement as a goalkeeper.
“I am confident in Emi and I am confident in Carl Ikeme – it needs to be a strong department for us this season and they have the ability.”
