This week we have been taking a look at what the Brighton & Hove Albion women’s team do off the pitch as well as where they have been prior to their Albion careers.

Deanna Cooper

The 22-year-old spent a decade with Gillingham Ladies and was in the England youth setup at under-15, under-17 and under-19 level. Off the field, the defender works in a secondary school as a lesson supervisor and the multi-talented Cooper also plays cricket for Kent, where she has spent the last seven years in the England Women's Academy cricket squad.

Sophie Perry

Perry is a Republic of Ireland senior international and a former Chelsea and Millwall player, who returned to her home-town club at the start of last season. The 28-year-old spent eight years with Chelsea competing in the WSL and reached the 2012 FA Cup Final. The Irishwoman* has represented England up to under-23 level before switching to play for Ireland in 2012. She made her debut at the Algarve Cup against Wales and has since gone on to represent Ireland in both European and World Cup qualifiers. Off the field, Perry is the head of physical education at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA).

Catherine Cooper

Another former Gillingham player, Cooper joined Albion in the summer of 2014. The 19-year-old had spent the previous two seasons with Gillingham Ladies, playing a part in their club record-breaking season of 2013/14. Cooper had spent the previous six years at Gillingham’s centre of excellence before establishing herself in the first-team squad. Off the field, the defender studies Applied Criminology and Forensic Investigation at Canterbury Christchurch University with a view of furthering her studies in the criminology field.

Having joined Albion’s under-15s in 2011, Leitch developed through the centre of excellence and is now starting her first full year in the women's set up. The defender has represented England at under-15 and under-17 level, while off the field she has just finished her first year at Sackville Sixth Form, where she studies A-levels in PE, History, Psychology and French.

Vicky Ashton-Jones

After seven years with Gillingham, Ashton-Jones was amongst the raft of Gills players to join the Seagulls last summer. The defender has won the Kent Cup four times and the Ryman Cup twice. She has also won the South East Combination division and was part of the team that finished second in the Premier League Southern Division in the 2013/14. Off the field. Ashton-Jones is a police officer and has been for the past six years.
