Worth a gamble as a free agent I would have thought although wages could be a sticking point. Unbelievable talent when fit and motivated.

Would he be worth it though?

He did have a great first season at Swansea but since then has seemingly done nothing either there or on loan (I would imagine there are some periods of injury in there as well).

I don't think anyone would say no to another striker but personally I'd like someone that doesn't come with a question mark over whether they're likely to even try on the pitch.

He only played five times for Napoli, maybe things just didn't work out? His record with Swansea is impressive, twenty goals from fifty-two appearances.

He'll probably want silly money though so left Derby snaffle him up. Good player though and certain he'd do very well in the Championship.

but if he's been released, he ain't earning anything at the moment ?

If he signs, generally a player negotiates how much he wants to be paid. He is used to Premier League/Serie A style wages so if still wants to maintain that level of pay its not worth the risk. Some players would rather stay unsigned then take a pay drop.
