Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton is returning to the club, after injury curtailed his loan spell with League One Bury.

The England under-21 international has also been forced to pull out of Gareth Southgate's squad for the matches against USA at Preston on Thursday and in Norway next Monday.

Walton played six times for Bury, despite suffering an underlying groin injury, and now will return to the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre to work with Albion's medical staff.

It wasn't really working out for him at Bury was it?

Let's nurse him back and find another good loan move for him in the Autumn.

Bury fans will be pleased. I assume this happened before the weekend as he wasnt involved in the Bury squad at all this weekend.

Lets get him fit and send him back out if we feel he is ready, it is a shame he didnt go to Crawley its a big change for a young lad.

Injured (which I'm sure he is) or not, the Bury fans seem to think Flitcroft has a history of cutting short under-performing loanee's.

He'll come back stronger for it.

Put another way;

- Flitcroft has a history of signing bad loan deals

OR

- Isn't capable of/that good at getting the best out of players that don't directly answer to him

Bury fans were harshly on his back after a couple of mistake. Let's hope we loan him to a more suitable club next time.

Bear in mind a young fella from dahn sarf suddenly moved into the land of northern monkeys. Nothing wrong with that, but as a young fella on your jack, for some it ain't easy a long way from friends and family.

Will have been good for him to get some experience, but it wasn't the ideal manager or location. Perhaps a short term/emergency loan to one of the lower league London clubs will be more suitable.

Any news on Walton's recovery yet? Or future plans? A return to Bury doesn't look very likely - they seem to have stopped shipping goals all of a sudden.
