This season, it has taken us 5 games to reach 13 points (29th August). Last season, it took us 14 games (25th October).

Kazenga LuaLua has equalled the number of goals he scored in 38 games last season (4) in 7 appearances this season.

Tomer Hemed has scored more goals in 5 league games than Craig Mackail-Smith (1 goal in 30 league appearances), Leon Best (0 goals in 14 league appearances) and Chris O'Grady (1 goal in 25 league appearances) managed in 69 league appearances between them last season.

With 4 wins so far, we are already 40% of the way to equalling the amount of wins we managed in the whole of last season (10). Also, after 3 away games, we're halfway to equalling the amount of away wins we managed last season in 23 games (4).

Any more?

We're averaging 50 more passes a game this season. There's been an increase in forward and backward passes.

Interestingly, last year we had more shots on goal per game than we're averaging so far this year. We also created more chances per game last season.

We have already proven that it is possible to get more than 2 players in the opponents penalty area without the world spontaneously exploding.

At this stage last season Nottingham Forest were top on 13 points.

A direct comparison between our stats shows:

Goals scored 8 this season versus 6 last
Goals conceded 4 versus 5
Fouls commited 59 v 62
But we've got twice as many yellows despite less fouls, 16 v 8 (we did have a red by this stage last time)
Shots, well we'd had more shots on goal last season 83 v 79 this and surprisingly we'd had 25 on target last time v 24 this.

We're more ruthless seemingly

But clearly we're either being more clinical so far this season, or the goals we are scoring are proving more significant in the outcome of each match.

To me the difference is simple...We seem to have a Team of players...Last season almost every game we had at least two players who stood out as either not trying or simply not good enough.

At this stage last season it was "it will probably be good when the new tactics and players bed in" this season it's "the new tactics and players have bedded in and it will probably be good" - and that is a very big difference strangely!

Last season we achieved back to back league wins on only three occasions. We have done it twice already this season.

We are now unbeaten in five league games, a better run than at any point of last season.

This, and I'd also add there seems to be a real team spirit as well - no doubt in part due to the players being OURS and not loanees.......

Ipswich away last season was when I moved to the Semi OUT camp from the FENCE.
Ipswich away this season we dominated the game against a team who I think will be Top 6 at the end of the season.
Having a manager with half a clue makes a huge difference.
