The particular circumstance that makes this case about the influence of social media is that the gunman took video of the murder with a body camera and then posted it on youtube before then going and driving on the motorway from the police and finally killing himself. That is an extremely disturbing trend that I truly hope the powers of the world can curtail.
BTW, both fiances of the two victims were employed at the TV station and watched their partners murdered live on TV.
