Replacement for Stephens? Or back up should Kayal or Stevens get injured (maybe Hughton decided neither of the three midfielders playing last might were adequate).

We have so many midfielders, it seems a bit excessive buying another particularly if we are sticking with 442, unless we are expecting to shift a couple.

Ince is more than adequate at this level. But Holla just hasn't fit in, JFC isn't a defensive midfielder and Crofts is getting on and returning from two lengthy injury spells. A bit of depth couldn't hurt considering the amount of cards Kayal and Stephens are likely to pick up over the season.

My guess ( for no reason ) is that a bid has come in for Ince, and we are cashing in as he only has 1 more year left on his contract.
