CHRIS HUGHTON is pleased to be sitting second in the Championship table following Brighton & Hove Albion’s hard-earned 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
*
He said, “At the moment we are doing okay, we know how tight the Championship is and there have been lots of draws with many games being very close.“But certainly we would rather be up where we are, than down near the bottom like we were for much of last season.
“David Stockdale made two fabulous saves and defensively I think we were solid and good. We had some good performers and some resilient performers and Jamie Murphy probably falls into that category.
“We didn’t get the ball to him as much as he would have liked, but it’s good for him to have introduced himself and been on a winning team.”
The Albion boss also praised the endeavour of Tomer Hemed and is confident that the Israeli international will find his goalscoring touch.
“What we’re seeing him is the type of player he is. He’s not going to be that really quick one to get behind defenders, but he’s got really good receiving skills, particularly if we can get the ball to him in that box area.
“He has the ability to swivel and turn and frighten defenders and I’m quite sure a goal will come.”

GARY BOWYER felt that Blackburn Rovers lacked a clinical touch in their 1-0 defeat at Brighton on Saturday.
He told Rovers Player, ”We've come to a very difficult place and after 20 minutes we should have been 2-0 up.
"It has been a little bit like Groundhog Day because we've certainly created chances and we are bitterly disappointed that we are not coming away from here with at least a point.
*
"They were really good chances, Fode Koita sees the goalie make a really good save early on and then Craig Conway is through one-on-one and he's made another good save.
*
"You look at their goal and it is a deflection; they've not cut us open, the lad has had a shot, it has taken a deflection and has took it off David [Raya].
*
"Then in the second half their keeper has saved again from Nathan Delfouneso and then you just need that little bit of luck, even at the end with Shane Duffy's header.
*
"But I can't fault the players' efforts with the way they've gone about the game against a team that has started well, but that is how it is going for us at this moment in time.
*
"You need the big moments to go your way, and we've certainly had enough chances to have won the game but we need to be more ruthless."
