Sweet jesus. If this is true it's pretty incredible that no one found it until now. The earlier version of the story laid claim to the fact that were 300 tonnes of gold on board. That equals 9.6million ounces which at today' price ($1152) would make this haul worth $11bln.

The discoverers want a finders fee of 10%, perhaps they could use this to buy Andre Gray?

But in the film it would be Americans that discover it, and kill the Nazi soldiers still guarding it ?

Not forgetting of course that the train would blow up in a John Woo style seven different angle replays while the gold melts and flows conveniently into a mold the shape of the Star Spangled Banner.

I'm thinking Steven Seagal for this one

Brian Garfield wrote a superb novel in the 70's about this. It was called Kolchak's Gold.

I assumed the thread title was about how a mysterious Bavarian family decided to become Swiss late in WWII, taking their gold with them across the border. And later bought Southampton FC. Allegedly.

Great. Will have to look that up. [emoji106]🏻

Having googled it that's to do with Russian Tsar gold not Nazi war gold. But thanks as sounds interesting.

It's my dodgy memory - too many brain cells destroyed by alcohol.
