Beram Kayal’s 17-second strike against Huddersfield Town was one of the quickest goals in Brighton & Hove Albion’s history, but it is still was not the fastest.
That honour goes to Maheta Molango who spectacularly scored 12 seconds into his Albion debut at Reading on the opening day of the 2004/05 season, a strike that was three seconds faster than Wally Gould’s effort against Leyton Orient in 1968 and Howard Wilkinson’s goal against Southport a year later in 1969.

Kayal’s Huddersfield finish sits fourth in the list of Albion’s fastest ever goals, ahead of Gary Williams’s goal against Cardiff City in 1978 after 23 seconds and Gordon Smith’s finish after 27 seconds against Sunderland in 1983.
