Beram Kayal scored Albion’s fastest goal for more than 11 years, then revealed how he was urged to make an early impact.
The Israel international opened his account for the season from outside the box after just 17 seconds of the 1-1 draw at Huddersfield.
It was the most rapid strike by a Seagulls player since debutant Maheta Molango netted 12 seconds into the 2004-5 campaign at Reading.
Kayal tested Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli in the second minute on Saturday but beat Joe Murphy in style last night.
He said: “I don’t need to say what the gaffer told us about how we need to play forward and put pressure on the other team from the start.
“It’s working well. Against Fulham I had an early shot as well.
“We put them under pressure from the start, we are pressing higher.
“I’m happy to score but disappointed not to win the game.”
Kayal felt Albion could have killed the game off in the first half.
He added: “We scored early which is always good. We had another few chances to score but we made our job harder for the second half.
“But a draw is a good result when you look at the chances they had in the second half.
“We need to know how to control the game better.”
