Chris Hughton believes a draw was a fair result after his Brighton & Hove Albion side were held by Huddersfield Town.
Albion drew 1-1 with Chris Powell’s Terriers in an evenly-fought game but Hughton urged his side to better in possession.
He told Seagulls Player HD, “We didn’t keep the ball as well as we have done in the other three games we have played so far, and that didn’t help us.
“When the spaces opened up for us we needed to have a little bit more control. What you cannot do is control a game for 90 minutes particularly away from home, but we did need to have more control than we did.
“We worked hard to get the ball back and then we just needed periods where we kept it better. There were too many occasions where that first pass went astray, which gave them the opportunity to counter attack, but over the 90 minutes it was a fair result.”

The Seagulls boss was pleased to see his side start so quickly, as Beram Kayal gave Albion the lead in the first minute, but also felt that scoring as early as they did gave Huddersfield a better opportunity to recover.
“We couldn’t have got off to a better start. We spoke about starting games at a higher tempo and sometimes they go for you and sometimes they don’t, but it was one of those strikes that as soon as he [Beram] had struck it we knew it was in.
“To get a lead as early as that away from home is sometimes too early, but it was a super strike.
“At the start of the season, if you had said we would have seven points from nine and we'd be second at this point before the season started, especially with two of the games being away from home, then I would have been delighted. We have to remember we have only had one home game so far.”
New singing Jamie Murphy made his debut for the Seagulls during the 1-1 draw at the John Smith’s Stadium and Hughton was impressed with the winger’s late appearance.
“He did exactly what we wanted from him; get into wide areas, be a threat and keep possession and he did all of that.
“It was a tough shift for the wide players and at this moment Kazenga [LuaLua] is making great contributions in games, but Solly [March] was looking slightly tired, so I thought Jamie would give us that little bit of extra legs.”
Meanwhile Hughton confirmed Andrew Crofts won’t face Blackburn Rovers at the weekend but says he is hopeful Bobby Zamora may be fit in time.
“Andrew Crofts will play in his fourth reserve game on Monday. He has got through 90 minutes yesterday and it was always about him getting those two full games. Bobby is close and we will assess him this week.”
