Chris Hughton praised Albion's late show to grab a win at Fulham today.
But he admitted he thought they were heading for a draw.
Tomer Hemed converted a stoppage-time penalty after Kazenga LuaLua was fouled on a counter attack to secure a 2-1 success.
Fulham were pushing forward for a winner at the time.
Albion boss Hughton said: "The big lad (Matt) Smith caused a lot of problems.
"They have gone a little more direct into the front and I can see them winning a lot of games this season.

"We had to deal with that one and it looked like it was going to be a draw."Then you are just looking for that bit of inspiration."
Some Fulham players seemed to argue LuaLua was fouled just outside the box.
Hughton added: "My first impression was that it was a penalty but I think it shows a little bit of bravery at that stage of the game to attempt to go and win it.
"I thought our first half performance - certainly for about 25 minutes - was excellent.
"It was a little bit of injustice to go in at half-time at 1-1 but people like (Tom) Cairney have got that type of quality and they can score great goals."
