Stockdale - 7 - looked solid barring a moment caught in no mans land second half
Bruno - 6 - struggled a little against Antonio. To be fair, Antonio looked quality
Bong - 7 - more solid than Bruno. Like
Greer - 6 - lost a lot in the air
Dunk - 8 - that rampaging run added £1m to his price tag. Very good tonight
Kayal - 8 - class. Just about MOTM for me. A very intelligent performance
Stephens - 8 - forming promising partnership with kayal. Got forward well
LuaLua - 8 - the usual mixed bag but more positives than negatives tonight and a great goal
March - 6 - should have done better on a couple of occasions
Hemed - 6 - pretty quiet. Denied by a great save but should he have done better?
Baldock - 6 - worked hard. Should have hit the target with his one good chance

All in all, a good night at the office

Stockdale - 6 - apart from showing uncertainty with the long throw he performed well.
Bruno - 8 - MOTM for me, good display
Bong - 7 impressive debut
Greer - 6.5 weakest of the back 4 but a decent performance
Dunk 8 - almost cost us with a sloppy header first half but a strong match
Stephens 7 - industrious as always
Kayal - 7.5 - odds on our player of the season
March - 7 - hit & miss, tired second half
Lua Lua - 7.5 - gave their full back problems all night
Baldock - 7 - unlucky with first half effort
Hemed - 7 another good debut, denied by a world class save

Subs - all done the job required - 6.5 a piece.

Stockdale -7- made a few good saves. Will be kept on his toes this year by a decent 2nd choice keeper
Bruno - 6- had a difficult game but did his job
Greer -6- one moment in the first half when he did the Forest player at the byline stood out
Dunk -8- strong performance. Will be gutted to lose him
Bong -8- MOTM - composed on the ball and very intelligent player .
March -5- Quiet at times in the game, had a couple of chances he should have done better with
Stephens -6- decent performance but some wayward shots
Kayal -7- ran the game and will be very important for us this year .
Lua Lua -7- good goal and lasted almost whole game but frustrating when he always cuts back
Hemed -6- quiet game and didn't impose himself
Baldock -5- didn't do much at all and needs to be stronger

Ince -5- came on and kept it tight
COG-5- stronger upfront and made one decent run with the ball. Gave away silly free kick when we had ball in the corner
Rosenior -6- looked composed and intelligent to run clock down in last few minutes.

Fiveways
Stockdale 7.5 -- I still really like him
Bruno 6 -- given a torrid time by the MotM, did as well as he could
Greer 6.5 -- solid; that Blackstock's not much good, but is in the air -- it's unusual for Greer (and Dunk) to lose most of their headers
Dunk 7 -- please stay for one more season
Bong 7 -- he's quick and athletic, positionally sound, and seemed to team up well with KLL
March 6 -- I can forgive him that blast over the bar, but his effort half-way through the second half had to test the keeper; not his best game, but I'm expecting great things from him this season
Kayal 7.5 -- was unlucky to get booked, bossed the midfield, which built the platform for our ascendancy
Stephens 6.5 -- solid performance
KLL 7 -- usual random mixture, but top finish
Baldock 6.5 -- brilliant movement and work-rate, but didn't do anything of note
Hemed 6.5 -- also didn't do much but, as with Bong, he looks like a great signing: exactly what we need

Ince 8 -- I know the 4-4-2 lot are happy, but I want to see him play with Kayal and Stephens
O'Grady 6 -- good little cameo
Rosenoir 7 -- another great signing, he's quick and a really intelligent player

Hughton 8 -- got it right on the night, we looked solid without being overly defensive a la last season, and the signings worked immediately

Stockdale - 6 - didn't have much to do but another scary moment from him
Bruno - 6.5 - solid enough go stuck in where needed
Dunk - 8 - A great performance. That run in the 2nd half was superb
Greer - 6.5 - Just coming back from injury so solid enough
Bong - 8 - Excellent performance. Gonna be a crowd favourite me thinks
March - 6 - Could have done so much better a few times and should have scored
Stephens - 7 - A few dodgy free kicks but working well with Kayal.
Kayal - 7.5 - Another very good display. The new Lion of the team
LuaLua - 7 - Well taken goal and in the main a threat when going forward
Baldock - 5 - Seemed to fade out of the game and not much to offer tonight but will improve
Hemed - 6.5 - Unlucky not to score. Clearly a class act and will score goals

I saw the game very similar to the above. Would give Bong an 8 though as thought he was excellent and I think the Baldock rating is a little generous as I don't think he really had any significant impact on the game although he worked hard so a 6. Agree with all the others.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
Stockdale - I remain fearful of wrongful decision making, but had an alright game. Wish his kicking long would go toward the head of Hemed rather than Baldock's each and every time. A reasonable 6.
Bruno - a tough night defensively, but classy in the first half and seemingly unjustly punished for every time one of their divers hit the floor. 6
Bong - I like the Bong. Hope he settles and gets his positioning right backwards and forwards. 7
Greer - did a couple of his misplaced hoofs, but battled welll enough. 7
Dunk - a classy centrehalf that continually matures. Getting better all the time. Hope he leads rather than leaves. 8
Stephens - motored around a bit, but disappeared too often and wasn't as creative as I'd have likes. A 6
Kayal - in and out of the game, but when in it a stylish buck of a beast. 7
March - his thinking was slow in the first half and we lost possession too often with the ball at his feet. Second half better, but still should have done much finer with his chances. 5
Lualua - a steaming return to form. Dazzled energetically and fired home just when we needed it. 8
Hemed - a rough first experience of championship football. Looks like a good signing when he gets used to the speed and physicality of it all. 6
Baldock - ran a lot. Should have put away that chance. 6

Stockdale - 7 Solid
Bruno - 8 Aggressive, not exposed by having to attack too much and barely lost the ball. His most consistent performance for a while,
Greer - 7 Decent
Dunk - 8.5 Very very good
Bong - 7 Good acquisition.
Kayal - 9 Brilliant. A real box to box midfielder. Plus he looks like he might kick off at any moment,
Stephens - 7 Solid
Kaz - 8 Best I've seen him for years.
Solly - 6.5 Would have been more but for that first one when he was through on goal.
Hemed - 6.5 Didn't hold the ball up that well. But looks like he might be able to link play well.
Baldock - 7 Good movement. and very close from the edge of the area. Not sure he's the right guy to play in that number 10 role behind the striker.

Fullbacks as defenders. Plus wingers.

It was great.

Hemed looks a very good buy. As does Bong. As does Rosenior. Long way to go though.

Re Rosenior (may have spelt that wrong) - He looked absolutely mustard when he came on (well out of positioni may add). Just seemed to look so neat and quick - anyone else appreciate his cameo...?

Agree with all of this (lazy option I know) apart from Dunk, 8 not 9.

I thought Hemed did much better than some have given him credit for. Great feet, bit of pace for a bigger fella and won loads in the air..?!

Valid point. On reflection Bong had a better game than Baldock so I would upgrade Bong to 7.5.

I like Baldock's movement, if we continue to play two upfront I can see him getting between 12/15 this season. His awareness of space in the box and positioning of defenders was great for the Lua Lua cut back. Curled finish missed by a whisker, but promising signs.

Very good game to watch and a deserved win. Good to see 4-4-2 formation and refreshing to see the ball being passed forward the majority of the time. Also unusual to see Brighton move the ball forward directly from kick-off instead of the usual pass back to midfield. Another refreshing change. All in all an encouraging start.

Stockdale 7. Some good saves and looked solid apart from one wobble. Good distribution.
Bruno 7. Good first half. Difficult second half.
Greer 7. OK. An improvement on last season.
Dunk 8. Commanding apart from a couple of lapses ... and THAT run!
Bong 8. Impressed. Looks like an excellent acquisition.
Kayal 8. Great player, great performance.
Stephens 6. A few too many stray passes and he left his shooting boots at home.
March 7. Played well, but maybe tired a bit in the second half. We have never had a full season out of him. Just could be the winger we have been seeking.
Lua Lua 8. MOM. Just shaded it for the goal and his positive attacking play. Apart from a couple of exceptions he seemed to have overcome the problem of no final product. I believe this could be his season.
Baldock 6. Decent performance. Good to have him back.
Hemed 6. Unlucky not to score. Reasonable performance for his first competitive game for us.

Subs:
Ince 7. Very assured. Good to have such quality on the bench.
O'Grady 6. Did OK. Better at holding the ball up than Baldock or Hemed.
Rosenior 7. Impressed with his short cameo. Very good signing.

Manager 8. I like what I saw this evening.
