Wasn't Hughton just last week saying that we'll be ready for Forest, I take this as him conceding we won't.

No lessons learnt, if we can't afford anyone good please please don't sign a load of old dross like COG again, get one decent player rather than 5 shitty ones and let's try and blood our youngsters.

Of course it is. I posted a thread a while back when we were told free transfers weren't free which I thought was the start of the PR war to soften us up for this.

At least Hughton says we need to have a good end to the window, I doubt we will get one though.

The Albion transfer PR war.

1. We have learnt lessons and will try and do our business early.
2. Free transfers aren't free, signing on fee, wages.
3. We are trying very very hard.
4. No really we are trying hard and will be ready for the opener.
5. Oh bollocks, judge us at the end of the transfer window.
6. Ah, there is always the loan window.

Oh dear. I don't think it's a surprise to anyone that we're not going to be done by next Friday, but it is disappointing. Strange too is his last clause:".....we certainly want to be in or close to the top 6". It's going to be hard to fulfil TB's ambition to win promotion if we're not in the top 6. I wonder if TB is happy that his manager is already revising the expectations for this season down to "close to" the top 6.

You've missed one. 5a in that list I guess:

Bloom pleased after Summer window: "We have a very good squad and one which I think has a very good chance of success this season"

Hmm where have i heard this before. In PR talk it probably translates into damage control "eeerrrrrrr transfer budget has been errrrr lost in a poker tourney. errrmmmm sorry we are strong enough for top 6. eeennnn enjoy the season"

This was the quote I've been dreading.

Grim. Grim. Grim.

How depressing.

He said we'll be ready, not have all our transfer business done

Well.

Couple of early defeats should see the return of the kind of poisonous atmosphere that Sammi had to work in. When will we learn?

Would be good to get a consistent definition of success.

Hopefully not waiting until the end of the season and then saying something like "all things considered it was a successful season which we can build on" (because we didn't get relegated, because we had the nth best defence, because our form over the last n games would have us in the top x etc )

Fans forum won't help, anyone asking the pointed question will likely get a response starting "what you need to understand is"

Surely it was better to say nothing, than trot out the same old dialog from last year's grim play book ? ???

A couple of signings at the end of August was to be expected but I honestly thought we would have a couple of attacking players in by the Forest game, how many points will we drop in the first few weeks, quite a lot.

8. We are competing with clubs with parachute payments

Exactly what I was thinking. To be fair, we are not in full possession of all facts and don't really know what is going behind the scenes, so it may well not be an empty boast. With the three signings we are at lest stronger than last year, when we had Fenelon up front for the Sheff Wed match. But as you speculate, the feeling is that we have seen all this before, and so quite reasonably one could clam that "we will believe it when we see it." Hope my cynicism is misplaced!

Really ? You think they'd spin last year to be have gone well ?
Bloom has been pretty clear about last season's disappointment in various forums
Here's his letter to ST holders this week
. "Obviously last season did not go as we had intended, and our aim this year is to be much better on the pitch, getting back to the level you had become accustomed in the previous two seasons"

Bottom 3 if we don't sign 5 quality players. Only really one really quality player (kayal). 2.5 years ago we had 8 or 9.
