I live in the centre of Brighton in an apartment complex built within the last 5 years, I have tried every single provider and can only get ADSL of about usually less than a meg. All I want to do is watch HD [strike]porn[/strike] movies without buffering every 5 minutes.

Based on what? Almost every provider uses the BT backbone do you think they will allow a superior service to those using their network, no they apply QoS for their own service. They maybe expensive and support maybe shite but the actual broadband service is generally better than the competition.

"Centre of Brighton" covers a large(ish) area but I'd expect you to get better than that (a mate of mine lives in Woodingdean and that's the sort of speed he gets).

www.dslchecker.bt.com if you have a BT line will give you a good indication of expected speeds and whether fibre is available at your local cabinet

I lived in Woodingdean and FTTC was available if you were on the Rottibgdean exchange. See post 17 to check availability.
