Why isn't it ok to bomb Syria? You want it to fall to either Isis or Al Nursa?

The prime minister’s spokeswoman said on Friday that up to a dozen pilots had been involved since September, but they were not operating under a British chain of command. “The PM was aware that UK personnel were involved in US operations and what they were doing.”

The prime minister’s spokeswoman said the British aircrew were acting within international law and were merely carrying duties as part of an exchange with allies. She said it was well-known that the UK was in the lead as one of the anti-Isis coalition forces.

Well that's well out dated and out of touch now.. We created this mess in the middle east. We must do absolutely everything we can to keep Assad in power even with all his faults. We cannot afford another country especially the size of Syria becoming a terrorist hot bed and worn torn for decades.

The Government are itching to bomb Syria, hence the forthcoming re-vote on the decision not to bomb. Cameron hasn't had a proper bombing campaign yet, to call his own. I know he has Libya, but I think he'd rather we didn't mention that.

This has been happening for years pilots are exchanged between NATO nations all the time, back in the 80s I had pilots from Australia, Holland, USA and Belgium assigned to our squadrons.

I'm worried that the sweaty MP and others say they didn't know this was happening. I knew. and I'm just a no mark pensioner who pays attention. So either they are lying or not paying attention. This current twenty are flying from carriers, something that our pilots need to keep practising while waiting for our carriers and F 35's to be ready, or we will collectively forget how to do something we invented.

I agree it's always gone on, we had a couple of Yank Marine pilots on the Ark for a while. The fact that our pilots now though are serving on a carrier, bombing Syria is a bit odd as the powers that be could have insisted that they only serve on ships NOT involved in this operation.
I think there were exchange American Officers serving on British ships, at the outbreak of the Falklands war, who sent ashore, and didn't take part in hostilities

Once embedded they fall under the command and policies of the nations' forces they are working for. As someone else pointed out in another thread, when a player is loaned out he falls under the rules and tactics of his host club. So what's the problem ? Are you suggesting we shouldn't embed our troops in other nations forces ?

well theres a surprise
I must say I do like the fact that our pilots are bombing IS in Syria
its just the fact that the British public have been kept in the dark and some of the MP's in parliament
also lets hope that DC copes with any consequences that start occuring in this country?
as for you Mr Bridger how very dare you bring my loyalty to my country into this, you just love dipping into a thread and sniping especially at my posts
at least I have an opinion
yes I am a socialist
yes I am a republican
and yes I am very proud to be so
I am also very proud to be British.

Former colleagues of mine have been deployed on U.S carriers for about 5 years now. It is the only way they can get experience of flight deck ops.

Really ?? You've fallen for the crap put out by the press and the opposition. Let me see, most of them know we embed our troops with our Nato allies ( if they don't then their hardly in a position to moan ) and everyone knows the US and Canada are bombing IS in Syria. What's the cover up here ? Next you'll be telling me you're surprised we have special forces in Iraq and Syria ( as well as Libya, Tunisia and a number of other African countries - after all it's not been mentioned in parliament ). Really, this is making a mountain out of not even a mole hill, more like one of those worm poo piles.

the point with this is parliament voted against bombing in Syria, and whats strange is its only just come to light
I have no worry that we are doing it none at all.
my worry is the retaliation here now it become common knowledge
we have already had experience of this in London, Glasgow where next?

Please point me to a British badged Tornado that has bombed Syria ?

As for retaliation, I doubt very much if IS will differentiate being bombed in Iraq and being bombed in Syria. They are not going to go 'Oh look, those nice British aren't bombing us in Syria, let's leave them alone'.
