The discussion popped up on the Ashes thread. Just found this on YouTube, & thought you non-cricket fans might like to know why it stings so much (so you say ) when somebody smacks you right in the TEZZERS.

There's science behind it, you know, if that makes you feel better.

And now, some bloke learning the hard way. Just because it will never stop being funny. Any of you care to relate a similar tale of your own woe, purely for the amusement of the rest of us?

It's a kick up the perineum that is the worst for me, that can shake you straight through your core.

Is that the painful bit then? I'm now starting to feel a bit of retrospective guilt for an incident of smacking a male friend between the legs with a metal swingball post when I was about seven or eight. It made a most satisfying thwack as I punted him with it (in my defence, he was extremely annoying and at that age, I had no idea of the potential for collateral damage with such delicate areas).

He cried a LOT...

Jesus, he seemed to take that one on purpose. Either he's a masochist, or he was trying to **ck it.

I don't tend to find it funny, I empathise too much.

And no Edna, I don't want to share stories about my privates for your amusement. Well, not on NSC anyway.

As painful as taking one in the nuts is concerned. As debilitating as it is. And it is. I'd rather sit on a chair naked a-la Bond in Casino Royale and suffer that than get another gout attack.

Now I'm actually sitting here thinking about it is rather have neither. Getting one in the plums is a killer.

As a response to your witticism I will add that if childbirth really is as painful as women claim, then how come we do not have a nation of one child families?

:p

I don't KNOW, but I would assume it's one of those things whereby the eventual reward makes you forget about the painful effort involved? A bit like a non-natural runner like me training for a marathon, I suppose. Get across that finish line & it feels so good you immediately push all the hideous hours of training out of your mind.

I took one a-midships whilst fielding at mid-off on a dodgy outfield at Ferring back in April, so have some sympathy with Cooky.

The ball wasn't travelling as fast as the edge Cooky intercepted, but it winded me pretty badly and I felt nauseous the rest of the afternoon. My sunday team doesn't have the luxury of a 12th man so I soldiered on, not helped by the fact that at about 11C, conditions were not conducive to a warm-up. Normal service emerged about 3 days later.

No lasting damage (he squeaked).

Isn't it established the worst two pains are childbirth and gallstones, a kick to tbe nadgers pails into comparison with those two I imagine, passing stones through your urethra has got to be something else.

I think kidney stones are the ones that go down that route, aren't they? :)

Gallstones are the ones that get into your digestive system (still incredibly painful apparently).

Apparently as long as the roots aren't damaged, if you plop them into a glass of milk they can be saved. If you haven’t got any milk put them in your mouth or spit on them to keep them moist.

Edit: Whoops, sorry I thought this was the child's teeth knocked out thread.
