It is. You're not a true champion in tennis unless you've got a Wimbledon win on your CV
Grass is such a completely different surface to a hard or clay court, its faster, takes spin a lot more and generally is a much better test of a players abilities than any other surface. So that along with the history of the place and the fact that both Centre Court and No 1 court are now both very modern stadia means that yes, Wimbledon is the Holy Grail of tennis.
It is, but I'm not sure Ivan Lendl would agree with your quote.

2. Roland Garros
3. US Open
4. Australia

Too much of an English bias on there I'm afraid. Depends who you asked - South Americans, North Americans, Australasians, Africans, Southern Europeans or Asian countries wouldn't give those answers. Wimbledon and The Tour de France you can't argue with as the pinnacle in those particular individual sporting discplines, as for the rest, and when you get into team sports, it's a lot more subjective....the New York Marathon would be top for a lot of people as an individual discipline, Grand Prix - Monaco (or elsewhere), FA Cup wouldn't register globally for many, horse racing would be somewhere in the USA more than likely etc. etc.

Any sport in direct competition with an American event, and still seen as superior by Americans has to be 'the holy grail'.
Therefore Wimbledon is very much number 1.

You cannot really compare the Masters and the Open. The Masters is a smaller, invited field, The Open is open to all, even you and me if we are good enough and qualify. The US like to big up the Masters as many Americans do not like The Open as it isn't US style target golf. But the Masters is generally fairer than some of the US Open courses that they have to trick up to make difficult - that does not tend to happen at The Open that often. The scoring at St Andrews this year will be very low unless the weather turns bad - low scoring at The Open is not frowned upon as it is at the US Open.
