If they're planning to cremate all his jumpers too it'll make the Piper Alpha disaster look like a fart-lighting contest.

RIP.

That's a part of my childhood gone.

Although my normal musical taste would be very different, I did like things like "O'Rafferty's Motor Car" and "Paddy McGinty's Goat."

And didn't he bring us Dave Allen?

Always seemed a genuine and genuinely nice bloke.

And nothing has come out of the closet (apart from his jumpers) to tarnish his reputation

RIP Mr D

I was thinking of venturing a comment along those lines as well. It would be a real shock if anything like that came out.

And the Jumpers were his reputation!

Blimey, I didn't think he'd still be around anyway - he seemed pretty ancient back when I was a kid watching him on TV. Although I suppose his wardrobe choices aged him a bit!

Oh well, RIP.

I was brought up with Val Doonican's songs. I still love them to this day. RIP.

Sunday mornings in the 70s were not complete without the ricketting old radiogram turning to this lovely classic.
