I moved to Weymouth last year when we bought a house to let my mum spend her twilight years by the sea. It's not bad but Portland really hasn't much to recommend it, unless you are into sailing in which case it's probably a great destination.

Different people want different things from holidays. There are plenty of places I would rather go, but then I would rather go to Portland Bill than Las Vegas, which doesn't appeal to me at all.

I had a week there, it can be a bit erie and creep people out according to locals but was fine for me.
Swanage is really nice in the summer, not sure I would even think about going in April.

The walk around the lighthouse is good and the views of Chesil beach and weymouth are nice but I think some of the local families have been there for generations and never set foot any further afield.

The new inn had the craft beer stuff,no women out on friday and the fog made any views impossible! It was weird! And no you could not wear your albion shirt in the punch bowl

The Ferry Bridge which is the last Pub Weymouth side used to have strippers on nightly back in the day.
