It's funny how we've already seen at least 7 players flourish, this season, playing Potterball.

We all want him to succeed. I trust Potter implicitly, but if there’s any truth in Ali J being seen as a wing back this would surely be his biggest miracle to date- he looks lightweight and too slow to play there, and all we have been told by Iranians and the Dutch is he’ll come good if he plays high up the pitch.

People use this place to vent. Most supporters want our players to succeed or at least start paying back the millions we paid for them even if they hurl dogshite abuse at them on NSC.

I would expect Ali to be one of the front 3 replacing Trossard or Gross, but as he isn't even making the bench he isn't getting a chance. Maybe once we see the famous flexibility of GP formations, or after an outstanding game against Bristol Rovers in the Carabao, then he'll get his chance.
Personally speaking I want every single Brighton player to be the greatest player in the history of football, Ali included, and I hope with a new manager and a new approach he shows us the player we saw in the Eredivisie, the countless highlight videos and the player the Iranian supporters expecting him to be (Ronaldo/Messi and Beckham rolled into one). However.....there is a point where you have to stop wishing and realise it just isn't going to happen. Lets hope Ali isn't at that point just yet.

Potter was tactically superior to Gracia & Pellegrini. At that level, he needs to be light years ahead of the folk on NSC and he’s proved it again. Even the Potter experts are struggling to work out what he’s doing.
I’m very much looking forward to what tactical gems he’s got up his wizard’s sleeve for Stains.

There most definitely is a point where losses have to be cut, and chances are that conversation is soon rather than later.
But it most certainly isn't on the back of the last dour season.
Failing to make the grade under Potter, when so many other have almost instantly kicked on, doesn't give Ali much time to impress.
I guess many of us had GP appointment as turning an oil tanker around.
Plenty of time.
Ship out the deadwood.

Instead we might just be sat at on a speedboat.

Ali's gonna have to hit the ground running when he does get an opportunity, because that chance isn't going to be open ended.

If Potter didn't see potential in AJ surely he'd have pushed to get him loaned out? The potential for an Ashley Barnes level bounce of this thread is exciting for me

It isn't 'bollox' at all. We all want ALL of our players to be good. But to suggest that we all must pretend that they ARE good / HAVE BEEN good, despite all the evidence of our eyes, is just nonsense.
I've never seen one poster, ever, type anything that suggests they WANT Jahanbaksh to fail. If people watch him over the course of 20 appearances, and opine that they think he is slow or lightweight, and they don't think he'll succeed at this level, doesn't mean they don't want him to. If 10 players in the Albion squad are playing at their best, we'll do okay. If 25 are playing at their best we'll fly. Who doesn't want that?
The only time I've seen mention of him in threads not dedicated to his stuttering Albion career, are the 'Team for xxxx' threads, when a couple of blind-faith AJ fanbois like to try to inexplicably shoe-horn him in, and inevitably people respond, appropriately.

I thought him an ace signing, obviously with a whizzbangeroo in his boot, and i don't think it impossible to find his feet, but it seems to be about tempo and slow reading of situations. Maybe Potty thinks that the wing-back role will awaken his urgency and reaction time. If so i would think the result of that would be in being the attacking player he was rather than a sometime defender.
