Looked at a book to download as opposed to buyjng paperback and it said kindle version £4.99 save £4, kindle unlimited £.0.00 what is kindle unlimited and how does it work?

In simple terms its a library which you pau to use. Depending on how many books you read a month you could either save money or beout of pocket. Personally dont use it as most books I read take over a month to read but if you're an avid reader it may be for you.

I didnt find that when I searched but I dont read enough to warrant payjng £7.99 per month. Thanks for the info.
