Worth £2.4m, over 3 years.. How much for Zamora, again..?

AITC won the exclusive right to deliver the government’s National Citizen Service (NCS) programme across Brighton and Hove after seeing off stiff competition during a recent bidding process.

The NCS is a government-funded personal and social development programme aimed at 15 to 17 year olds which gives teenagers the chance to gain new skills for their future. It also encourages them to take a more active role in their local community – hence why the collaboration with AITC makes such perfect sense.

AITC began delivering the NCS scheme in 2012 – initially to 30 local teenagers. The numbers involved have grown year on year and the next programme will work with 180 young people. Within two years that figure will grow to more than 600 for the summer programme alone and rising to over 800 by 2018.

The original deal with NCS recently drew to a close but AITC successfully re-bid – this time to become the scheme’s sub-contractor for Brighton and Hove and the charity will now exclusively deliver the programme within the city. It will see AITC continue to work with young people from all walks of life – including teenagers facing significant challenges resulting from their backgrounds. Pupils from public schools and local colleges will also be among those targeted by future AITC’s NCS team.

The programme is fully inclusive so is also open to young people with disabilities or special educational needs (up to the age of 25) – again dovetailing nicely with AITC’s existing community work.

It represents a significant milestone for AITC and further establishes the charity as one of the area’s key community schemes.
Dan Garrett, AITC’s NCS programme manager, was delighted the charity was able to secure such a prestigious and financially rewarding partnership.
He said: “This is the largest contract that AITC has ever been awarded. It is a really exciting time.
“This will see significant growth of the programme, helping many beneficiaries within our local community while generating significant roles for both current and new colleagues to get involved within the project and its various delivery models.
“AITC will now become a flagship provider of this high profile programme in the south east, as we set out to offer participants the chance to build on skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and meeting new friends.”
Michael Edwards, AITC chief executive, was full of praise for the NCS team. He said: “A lot of work went into this and it is brilliant news for the charity to secure the NCS contract.

“The NCS team has done fantastically and the result will be a huge boost to AITC.”

The only reason I want promotion is so that the MotD team come down to do a little piece on 'what The Albion do around the community'.

I can hear the director now:-

"We're gonna need a bigger camera".

I remember a piece they did with Fulham FC and how they got pensioners in to play the Wii.
