First Triple Crown Winner since Affirmed in 1978. I was lucky enough to be at Belmont today to see American Pharaoh win the Belmont Stakes. He looked as if he had the class at both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness but the Triple is a tough competition as the 37 year gap between winners shows and Belmont is a tough course for the third race. So congratulations to American Pharaoh – a worthy winner and to trainer Bob Bassert who finally came good

Must have been a great experience actually being there watching the making of history these champions are so rare ,, i can still remember the hairs standing up of the back of my neck watching the great Secretariat achieve immortality

Yes, many Americans don't know a lot about horse racing but those who do have mentioned the daft predictions on the Belmont and Preakness.
