Any helpful ideas for a disabled fan

My dad has been watching BHA for over 65 years and is currently a 1901 season ticket holder. He is now in his eighties and his health is suffering, he is determined to keep watching the team he loves despite a brain tumor and cancer!
He travels over from Worthing to every home game. Recently he had a car accident and he can't drive over any more, so he has caught the coach from The North Star in Worthing to the ground, but he is very unstable on his feet now and has fallen several times going to games. He finds the hustle and bustle at the matches very daunting now, but still wants to keep going, Brighton are his main interest and his true passion. Has anyone any idea how he might get any help to keep going eg do the club help disabled fans to their seats etc or can anyone escort him into the game wait with him during the game and then help him back to the coach afterwards without having to buy a season ticket eg a carer (my mum might be able to do that for him) as she realises how much watching the team means to him, she isn't that keen, but would do it if necessary.

I have emailed the club through the official website and I am still waiting to see if they come up with anything. It would be a shame if he can't go any more, after spending so much money and time over the years supporting them.

Has anyone any ideas, or know of anything any other elderly/disabled fans have managed to do?

I am sure the Amex offer seats for disabled fans (right in front the pitch before the first row of seats)?

Email Paul Barber directly, you'll probably get an answer more Promptly, and I'd imagine he'd have some answers and suggestions right away

I feel sure that the club would help with escorting to and from the coach park.

With regards to disabled seats, I would strongly suggest that the best area is in the elevated SW corner and is easy access from the car-park/disabled lift. Great view.

The club offer free entry for a carer. The wheelchair sections have normal seats next to wheelchair spaces.
Call the club, they were brilliant with my father when the Amex opened.

A carer can go free (i believe) and the upper east disabled areas have seats next to where the wheel chair parks.
There is a lift down from the coach park, then flat groung for the wheel chair to the lifts to the Upper east.
I believe you can park at the University car park 5 and get the free shuttle to the coach park lift entrance.
Lord B will know more details about this.

If you want a lighter read maybe email disability liaison officer Oliver Riley: supporter.services@bhafc.co.uk

Thanks, I will try the people mentioned in this thread and see what they can do. He loves his seat, if they can find somebody to walk with him from the coach into the ground, I'm sure he will keep going, or if he can have a carer with him, he would be really happy. It looks like Brighton have thought about access and seating within the ground, I just hope they have a plan from the car park to seat in place. I'm sure not many people will have been going longer than him and it would be a real reward for all the years if something can be worked out.

If they do anything for him, I will post an update in case any of you ever end up in a similar situation.

I'm sure you'll sort something out. My father is wheelchair bound and they've been brilliant with him. But yes, please post the outcome.
