Perhaps I'm being controversial here, but I was surprised when I heard someone from the Coastguard Agency on Radio Sussex this morning say that you should call "the emergency services" on 999 if your dog wanders into a rough sea. I didn't think the fire service, coastguard and RNLI would risk their lives trying to save a dog, let alone the money involved.
Is this normal advice? What are people's thoughts on this?
