Brighton & Hove Albion under 18s fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat away at Reading and both sides ended the game with ten men.Jordan Maguire-Drew had Albion's first chance of the game, after his long range free-kick was saved by Royals' keeper Luke Southwood.
The hosts created more chances in the first half, but Sam Smith and Jake Sheppard both failed to find the target and neither of their efforts tested Bailey Vose in the Albion goal.
Sheppard did come close to breaking the deadlock in the first 45 minutes though, as he struck the post with a curling free-kick.
But Albion punished their opponents for their missed chances just before the break, as Ragnar Mar Larusson headed home from close range after connecting with Dylan Barnett’s excellent delivery from the left.

Albion almost doubled their lead shortly after the break, when Connor Tighe's brilliantly-worked free-kick teed up Maguire-Drew, who lashed a left-footed volley against the post. But both teams were down to ten men on the hour mark, as an altercation between Remy Meyers and Danny Akinwunmi saw both players sent off.
The Royals' next chance came when Tom McIntyre capitalised on a short goal kick from Vose and he weaved his way through two defenders before poking home the equaliser on 65 minutes.
The turnaround was completed seven minutes later, as Andy Rhinomota headed home from a free-kick to snatch victory for the Berkshire side.
ALBION: Vose; Courtney, Trialist, Cadman, Cox; Tighe, Meyers; Sanders, Maguire-Drew, Barnett (Ajiboye 55); Mar-Larusson. Subs not used: Hobbs, Meekums, Davies, Barker.
