For me it has given me amazing highs and desperate lows.
Nothing I have found,and believe me I have tried,has had the same affect on my life as football.
I have managed to control the elation and depression far better now I am older and have other things to worry about.
What a game though

an endless well of melancholy which chimes with my natural resting state. An excuse to drink too much, too early and be annoyed at things beyond my control, rather than just going "that's beyond my control" and plodding on in a frustratingly resigned manner
