England U19 Women to replay last 3 mins of game

What an absolute joke.

Ref got the penalty decision wrong so everyone has to go back to Belfast to play the last 3 mins starting with the penalty.

Surely the sensible decision is to replay the whole game.

Will they have to run around for 93 mins before so that everyone is suitably tired??

It is a worrying precedent.

Does this mean that if things go wrong and Bournemouth fail to get a penalty on Friday, the whole game will have to be replayed?

However badly the ref fecked up, they shouldn't replay the game just chalk it down to a bad decision.

Sky Sports say England will have an opportunity to salvage a draw from the fixture, though it is likely the match replay will last no more than 18 seconds.

An FA spokesperson said: 'After England Women U19s' match against Norway on Saturday 4 April, the FA lodged an appeal to UEFA following a disallowed penalty.
'Due to an incorrect application of the game's laws by the match referee, UEFA have ordered the match to be replayed from the point of the penalty.

GROUP 4 STATE OF PLAY
April 4 - England 1-2 Norway (Match to be replayed from 96th min on April 9 at 9:45pm)
April 4 - Switzerland 1-0 Northern Ireland
April 6 - Norway 2-0 Switzerland
April 6 - England 9-1 Northern Ireland
April 9 - Switzerland v England - 3pm
April 9 - Northern Ireland v Norway - 3pm

England take on Switzerland on Thursday afternoon at 3pm in what was meant to be their final group match in the final stage of qualification for this summer's European U19 Championship in Israel.

Kurtes was due to referee the match but it is understood she has been sent home following her mistake on Saturday.

Norway take on Northern Ireland at the same time as England's match at Belfast's Solitude stadium before returning to Seaview later for the replayed match.

Both England and Norway must start the match with the same 11 players who finished Saturday's match. However, a different player can take the penalty.

The decision further complicates the already complex qualification process for July's finals.

After an initial qualifying round last year, the Elite Round is comprised of six groups of four teams playing at locations across Europe.

The six group winners and best-placed runner-up - decided by the best record against the first and third-placed teams in the groups - go through to join hosts Israel at the showpiece event in July.

Unbelievable 'error' by the ref in the first place. Astonishing decision, to the point that I simply refuse to believe that it was an honest mistake.

Penalty scored. Perceived encroachment into the box by the scorer's team mates, and rather than ordering a retake, she gives an indirect free kick? This is a qualified UEFA ref? There is no way on earth she can have not known the correct rule. Little wonder she's been sent home.

What an absolute joke. They won't allow the 4th. official with a TV monitor a few seconds to rectify a refereeing error - but they'll replay three minutes of a match! Crazy!

Dangerous precedent, IMHO.

Hardly anything, one runs in then runs out again.

Given the amount of time it took to get that decision wrong, you would assume one of the assistants would have come on the pitch to tell her she had massively cocked-up.

This. It's not an obscure law, any ref worth his or her salt would know it. Is it really likely that an international ref and two assistants didn't know this?
