Over 34700! Plenty of aggro that season didn't stop them flocking to the games,i think villa v b'muff attracted over 48,000!

Bournemouth away on 1st April 1972 was my first away game.

Came home to find that my lovely Mum had bought me an orange Chopper bike for my 11th Birthday. Ah the memories!

We scored many late goals in that month.
Including the Torquay game, we played 3 games in 5 days over Easter (usually would have been 4 days but Barnsley match had been put back a day), and 10 games in 30 days. Very few team changes in that period as well, as the squad in those days was not huge.

Attended most of those games, including Bournemouth away and Rochdale at home.
Was living in B'muff at the time and went with my B'muff supporting mate and another mate from Bognor.Little Dean Court was absolutely rammed,but great atmosphere.
Think that when we played Rochdale,there were about 33,000 in the ground and a further 3000 who couldn't get in.
We needed a point to go up and Rochdale needed a point to stay up.........so 1-1.Think it was John Templeman who scored for us.

Happy days.

That was the best season! I think 12 games before the end Pat Saward made the brave decision to drop Henderson and J Napier, bringing in Goodwin and Beamish and shuffling Murray and Kit Nap
ier. After that the team was virtually unchanged, and unbeaten!
