Brighton & Hove Albion captain Gordon Greer reflected on the positives from last night’s draw with Millwall and is pleased that the side have managed to maintain a comfortable gap between themselves and the bottom three.The draw leaves the Seagulls eight points clear of the bottom three and ten points ahead of the Lions in 23rd with ten games left.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “We’re a bit disappointed we haven’t got the three points but it was a tough game and you can tell both teams are scrapping for points, so we’ll take a draw.
“Ultimately it was about keeping the gap between us and Millwall. It would’ve been great to win and we did feel that the game was there for the taking in the second-half, but it’s a tough place to come so we’ll take the point.
“It’s horrible when you’re down at the bottom scrapping for three points here and three points there. There are no easy games and we go to Blackburn on Saturday and that’s another tough game, so hopefully we can get three points there."

Greer admits it is a concern that the side are struggling to score goals on the road, as Albion have only found the net once in their last six away games, but is confident that their fortunes will change in front of goal.“We had opportunities to make more in the final third and we never done that. [Leon] Best had a chance, Greg [Halford] had a header and Joe [Bennett] had a slight chance on the left-hand side.
"We never created too much, but I think that was just down to the decision making in the final third.
“We’ve created chances at home and it’s a strange one, because we went with two good players upfront, but you can’t really point the finger at them because we created chances.
*“It’s up to the manager with whatever formation he plays but I felt that we went a little bit more direct to try and put them under pressure.
“There’s plenty for us to work on and we’ll take the positives out of the game and push on for Saturday."
Finally, the Scotland international believes there are plenty of reasons for optimism going into the final strait of the season and hopes that the foundations can be laid for a challenge higher up the table in the next campaign.
“Ultimately the main aim for us now is to stay in the Championship and give the manager time to rebuild a team to push for promotion next year, so it’s all about staying up.
“We’ve been on a good run at home and we’ve picked up the odd point away from home so hopefully we can keep that going.”
