Sad day for us older(ish) rockers, Daevid Allen of Gong passed away this morning. If you've not heard their stuff, it's a bit proggy, a bit hippy, a bit rawk, and generally a lot of fune.

Amazed he made it to 77 but a sad day, Gong were an ever present in my teenage years along with those other reprobates Hawkwind.

Blimey, I can't believe he was 77. I remember his 50th birthday! (I think it was the time he played upstairs at the Hare and Hounds but I could be wrong). That is the thing though now; in the old days when one of your musical heroes died it was a drug overdose or they'd accidentally drowned whilst driving their Rolls Royce into a hotel swimming pool or whatever. Now it's just old age that's knocking them off.
