Greer loves games coming thick and fast [The Argus]

Gordon Greer believes Albion’s hectic schedule is helping their climb to safety.
The Seagulls will have played eight Championship games inside 32 days after their visit to Reading next Tuesday.
The trip to the Madejski Stadium will be the third of four Tuesday night games on the trot for Chris Hughton’s side.
They have won three, drawn two and lost two in the frantic sequence so far and the 11 points gleaned from a possible 21 have helped move them nine clear of the relegation zone with 11 games to play.
Arguably Albion should not have lost the two games they did in that sequence. Nottingham Forest at home (3-2 defeat) was a game they threw away through poor collective defending and the Seagulls deserved at least a point from last Saturday’s 1-0 reverse away to Bolton.
The key factor has been how they have bounced back from each defeat.
After the Forest game, Albion went to Cardiff on the Tuesday night to secure a 0-0 draw which kick-started a four-match unbeaten run which gave them eight points out of a possible 12.
Then, after losing at Bolton, the Seagulls survived heavy pressure early in the second half to claim an excellent win at home to a table-topping Derby side who had won the previous five clashes between the sides.
Greer likes the way the games come thick and fast at this stage of the season and believes it will continue to help them put distance between themselves and the bottom of the table.
After going to Reading on Tuesday, Albion host Wolves next Saturday and then visit Millwall on Tuesday March 17.
Speaking after the defeat at Bolton, skipper Greer said: “If you are on the back of a defeat you can’t move for the next game. It is fantastic.

“For us, it means we can really kick on with a lot of games in a short period of time.“Hopefully we can do that, we can keep getting result after result and push away from the bottom of the league.
“We want to start looking up the table rather than down.”
Scotland international Greer, 34, is a voice of reason.
He is experienced enough to acknowledge that it has not been the season Albion had expected and that there can be no complacency in terms of their position despite three wins out of the last four games.
Greer said: “We are right in amongst it. At this stage of the season, you need to keep working hard. Until you are mathematically safe all you want to do is get away from the relegation zone.
“Results for us this year have been very up and down. It has not been good enough.
“It is up to us to put a run together and get up that league.
“Hopefully we can start expressing ourselves a little bit more on the pitch.”
Greer believes Hughton has brought a structure to Albion’s play.
And he knows more good results will come if the team stick to that.
He said: “You can see we have a certain style we try to keep to.
“The manager works on certain things throughout the week. It is up to us to go out and do what we are asked by the management each time we go on the pitch.
