Barnes, Murray, Ulloa, Zamora ... has that ever happened before? Have we ever had more than one former player scoring in the top division?

Barnes getting plenty of praise from the commentators and pundits for his performance in Burnley's weekend game. And to think this is the same player who never won the hearts of Albion fans and who most were happy to see depart.

Murray, who our manager and board were unwilling to give a salary increase in order to keep him as an Albion player. So we let him go for FREE. Madness.

Ulloa who may have gone off the boil since the early part of the season, but has a fair few Premier League goals to his name.

Zamora, who while not prolific as a goal scorer at the top level, still has a great first touch, holds the ball up well, and has a fine range of passing.

Not sure we have anyone this season coming even close.

I've long since let it go. And good luck to them.

The club did well with Ulloa and Zamora. I do not think one could criticise them concerning those two players. However they misjudged Barnes and Murray. As has been frequently shown goalscoring strikers are exceptionally hard to replace.

When did Ulloa last score a PL goal? I haven't seen a thread about him for months so it must have been a while.

Most? Really? Or was just a case of the empty vessel making the most noise? Barnes was hugely popular, evidence seen at numerous events attended by fans, and press, and sponsors, as well as the numbers of kids with his name on their shirts.

Free? Really? Or had his contract expired? We didn't let him go, we didn't have him to let go. Sure, many of us agree the deal should have been sealed, and in hindsight it seems like a massive blunder, but a certain Gus Poyet didn't want him for the money as he thought he'd get better value for the money elsewhere, in CMS we assume.

We would certainly have had a number of players leaving our first division set up who would have continued to score. Ward, Lawrenson, Case, Smith, Richie, Robinson spring to mind. Whether they all played elsewhere at the same time I have no idea nor inclination to find out.
