After beginning his career as a youth player with Serie A side Genoa, Emmanuel Ledesma enjoyed a successful loan spell at Queens Park Rangers in 2008/09.

The Argentine started off in England with a bang, blasting a brilliant League Cup hat-trick against Carlisle United just days after hitting a league goal in a 2-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers.

The forward became a fans' favourite in his brief spell at Loftus Road but returned to Italy in February 2009, joining Serie B side Salernitana on a half-season loan before further temporary spells with Novara Calcio and Crotone.

The 26-year-old was released by Genoa in January 2011 and was offered a trial with Albion, but despite scoring on his debut for the reserves, he was not offered a permanent deal.

The winger did attract the attention of Walsall though, who offered Ledesma a short-term contract until the end of the 2010-11 season.

After helping the Saddlers avoid relegation, he returned to Argentina with boyhood club Defensa y Justica.

Ledesma returned to the Banks’s Stadium in 2012, scoring four goals in nine starts and attracted the attention of Tony Mowbray’s scouting team.

The forward signed for Middlesbrough on a three-year contract in July 2012 where he got off to a flyer, scoring the winner on his full debut to send Boro through to the next round of the Capital One Cup at the expense of Bury in August 2012.

After being left frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities, Ledesma returned to the frame under Aitor Karanka last season, hitting a run of goal scoring form.
