Have you every been billed for the time a workman's van was sitting outside your home?

I agreed to pay a call out charge to a large company for sending a tradesman around. I was told there would be a call out fee which included the first half hours labour. I agreed as long as I wasn't going to be billed for the time it took to do the Job as I had already been stung like that once before. I wanted a quote for the job.

Today they tried to bill me for the time the guy's van was parked outside my home.... which was a lot longer than he spent in my flat. I wasn't informed of these charges and he could have been eating his lunch or playing on his mobile phone for all I know!

Surely a van tracker can't be used in this way?

Did you get a quote? Did the tradesman give you an invoice on leaving? And really this story needs more detail for any of us to have a Scooby what's going on.
