Brighton & Hove Albion under-21 coach Simon Ireland has joined Queens Park Rangers as their head of coaching and coach education.Under-18s coach Simon Rusk will step up to take interim charge of the under-21s - while Albion recruit a permanent replacement.

Former Mansfield Town player Ireland has been with the club for 18 months after joining from Blackburn Rovers to take the under-21 reins in the summer of 2013.Chief executive Paul Barber said, “We would like to thank Simon for his efforts in his time at the club. He has done an excellent job with the under-21s and we wish him well for the future.”
Ireland oversaw the under-21s’ first foray into the Under-21 Premier League this season following the club’s promotion to a category one status in the summer, and leaves the squad sitting in mid-table after securing recent victories over Aston Villa and Middlesbrough.
