When you’re on the back of two league defeats, like we are, you want to quickly get back into a run of games and that’s the focus."
Chris Hughton

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has urged his players to dust themselves down and be ready to hit the ground running again when they take on Cardiff City tonight. The Albion boss believes that a hectic period of fixtures should offer no excuses for his side, as they look to bounce back from back-to-back defeats against Blackpool and Nottingham Forest.
He said, “When you’re on the back of two league defeats, like we are, you want to quickly get back into a run of games and that’s the focus.
“We’re no different to anyone else. It’s not as though we’re having to play midweek games and no one else is, because everyone else is in the same situation. Everyone is also the same in terms of having to play games after some injuries, so you just have to get on with it.
“Apart from a free week next week, we’re back into two weeks of midweek fixtures again so it is relentless; you don’t have time to look forward to the next game or much time to reflect on the last one. We are now moving on to two very tough games this week.”

The Albion manager knows the threat Cardiff City will pose, but is hopeful his players can benefit from playing consecutive matches away from home.“They’re a club that is similar to a lot of teams that have come down from the Premier League.
"They’re finding themselves again, and adjusting to life back in the Championship; we’ve seen that with numerous clubs, including Bolton and Blackburn.
"They’ve had that period of time in the Premier League and needed to adjust to being back in the Championship and find their feet.
“They are a good squad and many of their players were involved in the Premier League with them last season.
*“We now just need to focus on getting points on the board and you don’t mind where they come from.
"There’s more pressure at home because there’s a greater more expectancy to get the points, but it doesn’t matter where we get them from as long as we get the points necessary to move away from our current position in the table.”
