Weird, as I never realised Steve Waugh was thought of much in a ODI sense (as opposed to Test cricket). I suppose even the flairest teams need an anchorman in the middle.

The only Englishman who would get near is Neil Fairbrother. Botham wasn't the best in the shorter format.

He'd be my teams skipper.

Not much support for De Villiers who'd be the second name on my team (after Richards of course) - an awesome one-day player. No mentions for Sanga either? A bloke who seems to score runs for fun

Gayle
Sehwag
Richards
Sangakara
Bevan
De Villiers
Kallis
Wasim Akram
Warne
Marshall
McGrath

Am surprised so many Saffers are in that list. They are very good when the matches mean nothing, not so good when they do. SA have yet to win a knockout match at a World Cup.

Jayasuria - That Sri Lankan team chnaged the ODI landscape with innovative strokes and attacking from the start and Jayasuria was crucial to that.
Gayle - Quite simply hits a cricket ball harder and cleaner than anyone I have ever seen.
Richards - Can't leave him out, consistently bludgeoned all attacks to all parts with proper cricket strokes at a time when 3 RPO was common
Lara - Love watching him bat, just so graceful,
Ponting (c) - Will accumulate runs while there the ball goes to all parts at the other end. Is also an excellent captain
Gilchrist (wk) - was another one who changed the rule book, keepers were seen as keepers first but Gilchrist changed that. Can come in when a team is 4 of 5 down and take the game away from the opposition
Klusener - Brutal batsmen and his wobblers were just the ticket in the middle overs
Wasim Akram) Both masters of conventional and reverse swing and could blow teams away
Waqar Younis)
Malinga -Pace changes could deceive even the best
Warne - No explanation needed
