Dale Stephens is back in the Albion squad for the first time in ten months for the visit to Cardiff tomorrow night.
Greg Halford is also back in contention after injury and ineligibility and Sam Baldock has a chance of being involved.
But Solly March is a likely absentee and the Seagulls are also concerned about the workload of Kazenga LuaLua so soon into his recovery.
Former Charlton midfielder Stephens, sidelined since April by ankle ligament and nerve damage, has stepped up his recovery recently with three partial outings in the under-21s.
Manager Chris Hughton told The Argus this morning: "He's in the squad, which is good. We're happy that he has done enough training and showed enough to be part of the squad. Some of that is about getting him back involved again, because he's a good player."
Utility player Halford, on loan from Nottingham Forest, is available for the trip to Wales. He could not play against his parent club at the Amex on Saturday under the terms of the loan agreement after missing the previous three games with a calf problem.
Hughton said: "He's back fit and fine and will be in the squad. He has trained for the last couple of days and would have been available for the Forest game.
"He had come in and done well in games in central defence but he has a versatility about him. With the injury problems we've had he's a good one to have in the squad."
Baldock missed the 3-2 setback against Forest with a hamstring injury sustained in the previous defeat at Blackpool.
Hughton said: "Sam is very close. We're hoping he is going to train today."
March is a major doubt with the calf injury that forced him off early on against Forest. Replacement LuaLua had been out since November with knee trouble.
Hughton said: "He certainly came on perhaps earlier than we would have liked and you could see the effects of that in the latter part of the game. He is one we have got to be mindful of and manage in the best way we can."
