Semi final two. This one is HUGE. It's the third year in succession these two magnificent beasts have met at this stage of the tournament (for the stat lovers: one win apiece). They know each other inside out. I can't stress how important it is to THINK about your decision. Whoever wins this contest will not only take their place in the final, they will become the world record holder for number of appearances in a final. At the time of writing they have both appeared three times each in the final.

You have 24 hours to vote. As always your beasts need your photos and videos.

The semifinalists:

Saltwater Crocodile

Group Stage: 2nd Group A
2nd Round: Beat Blue Ringed Octopus
Quarter Final: Beat Orca

A three time finalist, this is the croc's EIGHTH consecutive semi final appearance. Is this going to be the year that he takes the final step and wins the whole tournament for the first time? He knows what he's up against in the semi having met him numerous times throughout the years.

So what is he bringing to the contest? A dual threat: He can kill on land or in water. Strength: he has the strongest bite per square inch of any animal alive. Its even more powerful than the estimated strength of a Tyrannosaurus Rex bite. Speed: tremendous burst of speed when propelling themselves into an attack. Killing Moves: The Death Roll. Once you're locked into a death roll there's no escape. The only creature to have its own named killing move. Hardiness: Can survive with a missing limb or tail and still terrorise all around it. Durability: Has outlasted the Dinosaurs.

Is that the package that will see the croc into the final of WHC VIII? YOU decide.

Vs

Honey Badger

Group Stage: 1st Group C
2nd Round: Beat Tardigrade
Quarter Final: Beat Grasshopper

As could perhaps be expected from the self styled 'people's champion' Honey Badger has sauntered into this last four match up. He's a three time finalist looking to go the full distance this year and take the trophy home for the first time. So, what is he bringing to the fight this year?

Well, its the same as always. He's bringing himself...and that self is a hard as nails body and a dont give a f@*! attitude. He's a small beast but very heavily muscled, possessing great strength in his jaws and viciously clawed arms. His attitude, once provoked into fight mode, is ferocious. He'll take on anything regardless of its size, including Lions and poisonous snakes. The latter of which he kills and eats. It's this willingness to ruck with all comers that makes him such a threat in this tournament. Is it enough to defeat his great rival and make the final for the second year in succession and the fourth in his career? We'll find out in 24 hours...

Such a tough call.

The Honey Badger is a hardcore mentalist that will take on almost anything literally by going for its nuts. That's HARD!

The Salt Water Crocodile is not endangered in any way, has been hanging around Planet Earth for the better part of 100 million years and calmly sits out an extinction event that puts paid to most of life on earth. That's HARD!

The end of the badger this round I'm afraid, after all the snide tactics to discredit the mouse in the last round I hope the Badger gets torn a new one by the Croc.

Croc for me all day long.

This is the true final and such a tough call. Heart says badger, head says croc.

People, people! Can't we appreciate the monumental HARDNESS of both these magnificent creatures? Let us cast our votes and let the chips fall as they may.

So pound for pound... Honey badger is mental. Taking on creatures far larger and more powerful than itself. Sticking up for itself in the face of adversity, against a pack of lions for instance, and getting the better of them. It's a badger for Christ's sake! That is crazy hard.

The main argument I see for the croc is that it's bigger and scarier. It's meant to be 'hard' as it's an apex predator (and thus is not preyed upon by other animals).

There's a lot of hate towards the badger for some reason, shame it'll probably lose out either this round or the next because of people tactically voting against it. If this competition was actually judged on pound for pound hardness, which was the original intention, then there really is no contest and the Honey Badger wins hands down.

There is only one weakness to the croc campaign - mentality.
The croc has no predators, it's safe. Now if you believe the croc would say "come get some" to a superior killer vote croc. Otherwise badger has this.

I'm not sure that's true actually. There are many instances of other animals trying it on with the croc - few do well. The croc dates back to the dinosaurs for goodness sake - it survived a meteor strike!

What's the badger done that comes close to rivalling this?

It once snarled at a Lion, the Lion in question having recently gorged on a kill and frankly couldn't be arsed with the fluffy badger.

The Lion incedent was a one off. Basically the whole credibility of the Badger is built around this, take this one incident away it has nothing.

It wasn't. The whole documentary is pretty good anyway, but 25.45 covers the part where the HB went after Lions, not once, but twice and nearly paid with it's life. Hard.
