Oh, hell yeah! we're down to the final four. The gloves are off, we're about to go bare knuckle. Then Animal Dome is in sight, it's one win away, the WHC crown is tantalisingly close....just two wins away. But what wins they're going to have to be. We have four beasts of immense hardness all desperate to be WHC VIII, there's no freebies here, only pain, pain and more pain on the road to glory.

The Semi finals will be played on Monday 2nd February. You'll have 24 hours in which to vote and support your beast. He'll need facts, photos, videos and inspired, eloquent arguments if he is to progress to the final in the Animal Dome. He'll need his 'A' game, and so will you if he is to get there. Bring it.

The four semi finalists, and their number for the draw are:

1 - Hippo
2 - Honey Badger
3 - Saltwater Croc
4 - Wolverine

The balls are in the bag, they've been given a good mixing, here we go for the semi finals...

First out is number 4...that's Wolverine! It's his first visit to the semi finals but he must feel good about his chances. He got here by winning Group A, defeating the Mongoose in the 2nd round and then cruising past Seagull in the quarter finals.

He'll be facing...

number 1....that's Hippo! Hippo is no stranger to this stage of the competition having been here several times, going all the way and claiming the crown in 2010. He'll be looking to reach his second final and become only the second multiple winner of the competition. He got here by finishing third in group C and then dispatching with ease the Cassowry and Tasmanian Devil in the second round and quarter final respectively.

What a match up this promises to be, a seasoned, experienced heavy weight veteran against a ferocious, hard hitting light middleweight. Who's going to come out on top?

That leaves Saltwater crocodile and Honey Badger to beat it out in the second semi final. Both of these are legends of the WHC with near identical records. Both are three time finalists but have never managed to take the final, brutal step and both are no strangers to each other, having met at this stage last year and five times in total. Honey Badger took the win last time out to progress to the final and leads the head to head count 3-2. If you thought the Hippo Wolverine semi was going to be close...well this one could go to extra time!

Honey Badger edged out the Croc, despite some top level bitching from the anti-badger brigade.

That concludes the semi final draw. Both ties will be played on monday 2nd February, concluding on Tuesday 3rd. There will then be a day off, before the final is played at the Animal Dome over 48 hours from Wednesday to Friday afternoon.

It's been a very busy time at work for me, but things calm down a bit next week just as things get interesting. I would be surprised if the hippo doesn't get to the final, but the second semi really could go either way. Has to be the croc though... it's MENTAL

It'll be interesting to see how badger fans vote if it's in the final with the wolverine - essentially the same thing, but harder.

The wolverine has killed polar bears. The badger although aggressive can not kill anything that size. It makes room to run.
