Beram Kayal joins Brighton & Hove Albion after spending four-and-a-half years with Scottish champions Celtic.Kayal began his career at Israeli side Maccabi Haifa, joining in 2002 as a youth-team player. During the 2004/05 season the striker-turned-midfielder played for Maccabi’s under-19s despite only being 16.
Beram would go on to make his first-team debut the following season, aged 17, as the club clinched a third consecutive league title. After a handful of appearances in the 2006/07 campaign, he would go on to become a regular during the 2007/08, helping the club lift the Toto Cup.
The next season Kayal would clinch the second league title of his career, this time playing a much more integral role than when Maccabi last won the championship in 2006.
He played four times for Haifa in the Champions League group stages in 2009 but, after a successful eight years in Israel, the he opted to join Celtic in July 2010.

The central midfielder made his debut for the Hoops in their Europa League qualifying first-leg victory over Utrecht, however Celtic missed out on the group stages after a 4-0 reverse in the return fixture.His first Celtic goal came in April 2011 in a 1-0 win over St Johnstone but the Hoops were to miss out on any silverware as Rangers beat them to both the League Cup and League title.
Kayal clinched his first Scottish League title in 2011/12 however he missed the second half of the season, returning only for the final day game at Hearts, due to ankle ligament damage sustained in a challenge by Rangers’ Lee McCulloch in an Old Firm game.
The Israeli international came off the bench during Celtic’s famous 2-1 Champions League victory over Barcelona at Celtic Park in 2012, in a European campaign that saw the Hoops qualify for the knock-out stages of the competition for only the third ever time. The following season he hit his first ever Champions League goal during a 2-1 win over Ajax.
The Bhoys secured the league title in both 2012/13 and in 2013/14 to make it three in a row, taking Kayal’s tally up to five league title wins in his career.
The 26-year-old has represented his country over 20 times, scoring once during a Euro 2012 qualifier against Latvia in March 2011.
