***Worlds Hardest Creature VIII: QUARTER FINAL THREE***

You have 24 hours. This is a massive-literally and figuratively- match up. Five finals and a WHC title between them. Only one can progress.

The Combatants:

Saltwater Crocodile


Group stage: 2nd Group A
2nd Round: Defeated Blue Ringed Octopus

The first of two WHC greats in this quarter final. Has never failed to reach at least the semi finals, making the final on three separate occasions. The Crocodile is an immense killing machine with many varied strings to its WHC bow. First up its attack. It can take its victims on land or in water. When it does it smashes its huge powerhouse jaws down upon its victim. Those jaws possess the highest bite force per square inch of any animal alive. Its even more powerful than the best estimates for that of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. T-Rex the dinosaur. Talkig of dinosaurs, they used to share the earth with Crocodiles until things got too difficult and they succumbed to nature. The crocs just carried on. What else does the croc bring to the party? Well, its got the death roll. Once it gets its victim within its jaws it drags it to the water and begins the death roll. Its the only beast in the competition to have its own specially named killing move. Then there's the fact that the croc can take a beating. It can lose a limb or even its tail and it will still carry on killing.
Is it enough to see off a former chmpion? NSC, its up to you to decide.

Group Stage: 1st Group B
2nd Round: Defeated Black Mamba

The second legend in this quarter final, the Orca is a two time finalist and former winner. He's got as tough a match up as you can imagine here but he won't be intimidated as he's already seen off a former champion in the knock out stages. Nothing fazes the daddy of the sea. Highly intelligent the Orca has devised a number of ways-depending on the situation- in which to kill its victim. These methods include including headbutting, throwing their victim in the air, hitting it with their incredibly powerful tail, breaching and landing on them. They have even been known to beach themselves temporarily to get at their victims, they also occasionally hunt terrestrial animals and its been speculated(based on the contents of their stomachs) that they cannibalise other Orcas. Is it enough to defeat the crocodile? We'll know in 24 hours.

This is very difficult, but the Crocodile takes it for me, the Orca is more intelligent, but for hardness, as it can attack on land or at sea it has to be #teamcroc

So croc has never won. Well he deserves the opportunity for me.
I'm a big fan of the orca, but the croc must win.

This is a fearsome match up. Two battered old gangsters going at it like a pair of viagra fuelled teenagers on a roundabout. To the general disappointment of NSC my decision is based purely on the fact that the Orca is a sworn enemy of my original nominee the GWS. Croc edges it, but boy was it close.

The Crocodile just has that extra versatility needed for true hardness.

Croc seems to be walking this one. The Honey Badger vs Grasshopper Mouse seems to be the big battle

The orca is undoubtedly the best dressed hard creature in this competition. He's turning up for a fight in dinner jacket, bow tie and a crisply ironed Egyptian cotton dress shirt. He just exudes class, like Mr White. He gets my farewell vote.

Looks like the Orca is gonna get beat.

Orca. I'm shocked how little weight intelligence carries in this competetion. There's a reason the Orca is an apex predator and makes the likes of the GWS look like a guppy. It out thinks it's prey and develops new ways to hunt and kill them. The Croc is a fearsome beast, one that I would like to see go to distance if Shamu can't make it. But alas I fear that he will bow out at this stage of the competition due to the fact people just don't appreciate just how smart, cunning and HARD the Orca is.

It's no use lamenting the Orca's impending loss now. You've got to get in there from the start and argue for your beast. Those that do the best in this competition are usually those that combine hardness with a good PR campaign. It's taken the Black Mamba and the Mantis Shrimp to the winners enclosure and it worked for the Orca too. Since back to back finals in 2011 and 2012 its vocal fan base has fallen away and so has its performances.

At the end of the day, the Croc operates on land and in the water. It's got that major advantage over the Orca.
