Dale Stephens will continue his comeback from a long-term ankle injury when Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-21s host Cambridge United at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre today, kick-off 1pm.The midfielder played the opening 30 minutes for Simon Ireland’s side against Middlesbrough on Monday, and has been named in the starting 11 once again for this Final Third Development League Cup match.
This is Albion’s third game in the group stages of competition, following a 2-0 win and a 0-0 draw against MK Dons and Luton Town respectively as they aim to finish in the top two and progress into the knockout stages.
Ireland is set to make five changes to the team that started the match against Boro, with Harry Doherty, Rob Hunt, Charlie Harris, Robin Deen and Jimmy Muitt all included in the line-up after being named as substitutes on Monday.
George Cole is named on the bench after recovering from an ankle injury, along with under-18 players Bailey Vose and Ben Barclay.
