So, we enter the business end of the tournament. 43 beasts entered, only 8 remain. They're two victories away from the Animal Dome and the WHC VIII finale. Shee-it is getting serious from now on in. Amongst our final eight we have two former winners, two multiple finalists, two who have never progressed past the last 8 and two for whom this is uncharted waters.

The competitors and their numbers for the draw are:

1 - Tasmanian Devil
2 - Wolverine
3 - Hippo
4 - Saltwater Crocodile
5 - Seagull
6 - Orca
7 - Grasshopper Mouse
8 - Honey Badger

So, without further ado, let the draw commence...

First out the bag is ball number 3.

Thats the Hippo. Champion in 2010, that was his only final appearance but he's a regular in the later stages of this competition. Vastly experienced he knows exactly what this competition is about.

He'll be facing....

Cheeky little edit. Mums the word.

Ball number 1.

Tasmanian Devil. This is the Tasmanian Devils first ever appearance in the quarter finals of the WHC. He beat the Tabby Cat in the second round but faces an altogether tougher prospect here. He's shown himself to be a tough little competitor and he'll need al of that if he is to reach the semis.

Hippo vs Tasmanian Devil

Hippo has to be favourite here. An unfortunate draw for the excellently named critter. Tas may be held back by his cartoon depiction whereas Hippo has long thrown off any cutesy connotations.

Tie number two will be:

ball number 8...that's the Honey Badger. A three time finalist this is his eighth consecutive appearance in the last eight. A tremendously experienced competitor he'll be hoping that this will be the year that he can finally get his powerful claws on the famous trophy.

He'll be up against...

Number 7...the Grasshopper Mouse.

This is the Grasshoppers second successive appearance in the quarter finals after bowing out at this stage last year. That was his debut WHC campaign though so we will have to wait to see what he's learnt from that experience. He's got a very tough match up but he's fearless and will no doubt go into the contest all guns blazing.

Tie number 3 will be...

Ball number 4...That's Saltwater Crocodile. Another three time finalist, he's reached at least the semi finals in every one of the previous seven WHC tournaments. He'll be looking to maintain that record and go one step further than he's managed before and lift the coveted trophy.

He will meet...

Honey Badger vs Grasshopper Mouse - An epic confrontation between two genuine "come back here I'll bite your toes off" mentalists. Honey Badger takes it for me, but it's sure to be close.

That is an absolute class tie.

Honey Badger v Grasshopper Mouse.

The Mouse has attracted the HB following in other rounds, it couldn't be any worse for those that like their hard creatures cute and furry.

Ball number 6...
That's the Orca! Orca is a two times finalist and former winner. He knows exactly what it takes to go the full distance. What a match up this could be, five finals between them.
